In cats, the dose used is 10 to 12.5 mg per pound (20 to 25 mg/kg) orally or intravenously once daily. It does not repel fleas or ticks and does not reliably kill ticks, flea eggs, larvae or immature fleas. Prior to giving them the medication, i did a fair amount of research, particularly on the brand. If a flea bites the animal it will ingest with the blood the nitenpyram. Comes in bulk, capsules or pills (tablet) form.

If you are not sure if your pet ingested the full dosage, it is safe to give a second dose.

Nitenpyram may be effective for treating fly larvae (maggots) of various species. Cats appear to metabolize other drugs in this class better than ciprofloxacin when given orally, therefore it is not commonly used. It has no effect on other external parasites including ticks, mites and lice.

It is your responsibility to give this product properly. Nitenpyram is an antiparasitic (neonicotinoid) used to kill fleas on dogs and cats. I realize now that i probably did not do.

Rabbits can be given imidocloprid (advantage) or pyrethrin products. The flea pills can be given with or without food. Nitenpyram is gentle enough to be used daily in puppies, kittens, and pregnant or nursing dogs and cats.
